WATER Institute Lake Michigan Monitoring Buoy

Background Information

A pelagic monitoring buoy is moored on a triangular anchor system in 109 m of water. It is equipped for both meteorological measurements and water quality measurements (profiling surface to bottom). Data are logged on the buoy and transmitted via cell phone to the WATER Institute twice per day.

The meteorology data are collected continuously and averaged over half hour intervals. The water quality sounding takes place twice a day. The data are kept in two separate tables.
